Chairman's Message

We have been organizing a series of “The Environmental Response Symposium”, focused on the KEAP1-NRF2 system, in Japan once every few years. It has been 3 years since the last Environmental Response V Symposium. In the intervening period, we have seen many interesting developments in the KEAP1-NRF2 field. The COVID-19 pandemic is still an ongoing global issue and international communications in person have been restricted for a long time. Although virtual presentation systems have been well-developed in this periods, we believe importance of face-to-face discussion is in science communication.

Therefore, we are planning to conduct the sixth symposium “The Environmental Response VI” in November 3-5, 2023, in Sendai, Japan. The purpose of the symposium is to exchange and discuss the most recent cutting-edge research in the field of KEAP1 and NRF2. I would be most honored if outstanding NRF2 researchers from all over the world could find time to actively participate and share the recent studies. The symposium will be divided into four sessions plus a poster session:
- Molecular Mechanisms
- Diseases
- Therapeutic Drug Development
- Space & Health*
*We have succeeded the space travel of NRF2 knockout mice in 2018 in collaboration with JAXA. This session will discuss NRF2 and space stresses.
